There's not much you can do about the process itself, but you can avoid the website entirely and transfer files in a simpler, faster, and more reliable manner. It's a frequently frustrating experience and the last thing you want to deal with when you're just trying to save some stuff and move on. When you select multiple files on the Drive website and then try to download 'em all simultaneously, the site begins to package the files into a compressed zip archive - and then, all too often, takes an eternity to finish that process and start your actual download. Finally, click OK to enable the offline functionality in Google Docs. In the Settings pop-up window that appears, turn on the switch next to Offline. In the Google Docs panel, select the 3 stacked lines at the top left of the screen. If you are already signed in to Chrome at the browser level, you do not need to sign in to Google Docs again. Load Google Docs in a new Chrome tab and log into Google Docs. But first you need to enable the functionality. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to start using Google Docs offline. Then click Add to Chrome to add the extension to Chrome. Head over to the Chrome Web Store, search for “Google Docs Offline” (or click the Download button above). It’s only available for Chrome, but you can install it on alternative Chrome-based browsers as well, as you will later.
